The Asheville Police Department said Thursday that a man suspected in two armed robberies had been arrested.

On Sunday morning the Asheville Police Department responded to an armed robbery at the Sunoco convenience store on Patton Avenue.

According to police, the suspect, a male wearing a dark-colored shirt and hat, displayed a firearm during the robbery.

The following evening, on Monday around 10 p.m, Asheville police responded to another armed robbery at the Montford Corner Store on Montford Avenue.

The suspect of the second armed robbery was male, wearing a white jacket, sunglasses. Police said this suspect also displayed a firearm.

According to the police report, no injuries resulted from either incident.

The Asheville Police Department believes that these two armed robberies are connected and they ask if anyone has any information on either incident to please come forward.

On Wednesday, police said they charged 35-year-old Stephen Morris Jones with two counts of armed robbery with a dangerous weapon and were searching for him.

On Thursday morning, police said Jones had been taken into custody and was being held in the Buncombe County Detention Center on a $90,500 secured bond.
