Another small earthquake was detected in North Carolina Tuesday night.

The US Geological Survey said the 1.7 magnitude earthquake had an epicenter five miles from Newton and 41 miles from Charlotte.

The quake occurred a little after 8 p.m.

This was the third earthquake detected in North Carolina this week.

Two other small quakes occurred on Sunday night.
