Heat levels will increase into the Father's Day weekend, making it feel a lot more like summertime as we approach the end of the official spring season.
Thursday starts the heat building as highs soar toward the mid-80s to low 90s across the area with spotty rain and storms developing during the afternoon. The heat index is likely to approach the 94-96 degree range in northeast GA into Upstate SC at times.
Friday and Saturday will stay nearly identical as humidity builds during the weekend, which will mean heat indices or “feels like” temperatures will reach the middle and upper 90s. There’s still that off chance at a couple of pop-up afternoon storms, but the majority of the area will remain dry.
Father's Day Sunday into next week brings an ever-so-slightly better afternoon rain chance, but still most places stay dry. The heat and humidity will remain, which is on par for the official season change into summer on June 21st.
