Spartanburg County deputies said a man has been arrested in connection with the armed robbery of a convenience store.

Deputies said they responded to a report of a robbery at the Marathon gas station on Country Club Road on May 20.

According to the sheriff's office, the suspect entered the store, put a white mask over his face, and demanded money. The suspect pointed a small, black gun at the victim, deputies said.

The sheriff's office said the suspect took all of the money in the cash register and fled the store on foot towards Wallace Avenue. According to deputies, the victim followed the suspect on foot and saw a female driver pick up the suspect.

Deputies later identified the suspect as 32-year-old Kenny James Robinson of Spartanburg. The sheriff's office said Robinson was charged with armed robbery, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and possession of a firearm by person convicted of a violent felony.

Robinson is currently being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
