Police responded to a possible shooting on the campus of South Carolina State University on Wednesday morning.

SCSU Campus Police and Orangeburg deputies responded to the scene at University Village. The scene is now clear and The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation.

A university alert was sent to students around 2 a.m. advising to "shelter in place."

A black jeep was towed from the scene around 5 a.m. There's no word on if that vehicle is part of the investigation.

Officials have not confirmed that there was a shooting. WIS has a crew on the scene and is working to gather more details.
