Barrow County sheriff investigators say a 16-year-old girl was killed by her 16-year-old boyfriend at his home on East Midland Avenue near Winder.

Juan Kellogg is being charged as an adult with homicide for the death of Emily Lovern. According to the warrant, Kellogg killed Lovern with "physical force."

Friends of the victim, and of the boy who was arrested, say it was a brutal attack, and they saw no sign of trouble in their relationship beforehand.

Deputies responded to the Russell Village Mobile Home Park at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday, but they don't know exactly when she was killed. According to the warrant, the last time anyone saw Lovern alive was 8pm Wednesday.

Friends of both the victim and her boyfriend say they attended Winder-Barrow High School at one time, but both dropped out.

Deputies caught up with the suspect about an hour after finding the girl's body in a bedroom.

Someone at the scene of the crime told CBS46 a friend of the teen spotted the suspect walking down the street after the girl's death. That friend offered the teen a ride to a nearby neighborhood, but he claims the suspect never said anything about killing his girlfriend. The friend also said the suspect appeared to be under the influence of dangerous drugs at the time.
