On Monday, deputies from the Laurens County Sheriff's Office responded to a burglary report at a residence in Clinton.

According to the report, a utility trailer and a four wheeler were both stolen from the residence.

A friend claimed that the stolen utility trailer was spotted the next day attached to an older model Dodge Dakota, per deputies.

Upon further investigation, deputies said the Uniform Patrol Division located the vehicle and the trailer on Whelon Road in Laurens Co. and tried to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle.

After deputies located the suspect, the vehicle fled toward Gray Court and then attempted to enter I-385 in the wrong lane.

Deputies said they backed off and attempted to warn oncoming traffic.

The report said the driver lost control of his vehicle, causing a collision with another. The driver attempted to flee on foot but was caught soon after by deputies.

It was later discovered that the vehicle was stolen out of Spartanburg County, per deputies.

There were three people arrested in result of this incident, per the report.

The Sheriff's Office identified the suspects as Toby Christopher Horne, Darrell Scott Ellason and Nikki Lee Fields. Deputies said Ellason and Fields were charged with receiving stolen goods, value $2K-$10K.

Deputies said Horne faces the following charges:

burglary second degree grand larceny driving under suspension 2nd or subsequent offense failure to stop for blue light habitual traffic offender receiving stolen goods, value $2,000-$10,000 unlawful carrying of a pistol

"It's a miracle no one was killed by these thugs..we intend to keep them behind bars so they won't be a danger to anyone else in the future," the sheriff's office said.
